I recommend this book for every home library.

I laughed and cried as if I were ten again, clutching the book with admiration and affection.

In 1879, at a hotel in Paris, Mark Twain told a tale to his young daughters. He never completed the story but he made 16 pages of explicit notes.

Fortuitously, in 2011, a scholar at the University of California at Berkeley discovered the notes among Twain's papers in a cooking file!

I won't tell you about the story, just buy the book. Philip & Erin Stead joined heavenly forces to write and illustrate a classicly vintage treasure. Twain grins with delight.
